I rented a car from this location and it was a very good experience. The staff was extremely busy on a Saturday and we're trying to do whatever they could take care of everyone that came in. Gillian and the staff were juggling the high volume of calls coming in with all the customers that were already with great patience. The car was much nicer than I anticipated and everything work out fantastically.
I have been a long time customer of Enterprise Car Rental. The reservation process on-line is user friendly. When I arrive at the Main Street site, the staff is knowledgeable and addresses each customer as an individual. They often refer to me by my name. The cars are clean and in good working order. This Enterprise is a full service site.
The car we were given smelled strongly of marijuana. The steering was loose, the oil life was down to 4% and the "suv" did not have 4-wheel drive (though it did have all-wheel drive). The staff was friendly, but service was slow on return. Location was selected based on distance from my house. Unlikely to use location again.
I was disappointed with the service I received - I had to return a mid isze car I reserved because there was a scraping sound by the front fender. It took one half hour to get another car which was a compact without cruise control. As a result I was late for an appointment. This was an less expensive car but I paid the same price as the mid size when I returned it. The sales person did allow me to return the car with less fuel in the tank (which only affected the next customer renting this car) but I would have much preferred to have the size I reserved.
I got good service and a good Ford Focus from this Enterprise location at a significant discount relative to the airport location. How significant? About 1/4 or 1/3 the airport rental rate! Why? There's gotta be a catch.
When I returned the car Monday morning, the staff drove me back to the hotel, as there was no time for my morning walk before my flight out. If you are staying downtown but you're anxious about the neighborhood (I didn't have any problems, and the residents seemed friendly), ask for a pick-up by the staff. The location can be busy, so call in advance to arrange a pick-up.
I chose the location partly because of price, and partly because it was convenient to my downtown hotel. I walked the 1.2 miles from the Hyatt to Main & Riley as my Sunday morning constitutional. Downtown starts to peter out about half or 2/3 of the way there as you pass the Anchor Bar (which claims to originate Buffalo wings). Some people complain about the neighborhood, and that may be one reason for the low price. There is no after-hours drop-off at this Enterprise location, either. Selection is somewhat limited at this neighborhood outlet. Hours are limited on Sunday. But for me it was perfect. I had asked for an economy model and was offered a Ford Focus or Fiesta with no up-sell. I got the Focus. Despite its 35,000 miles, it was clean and in almost perfect condition. I drove to various locations in Niagara County and crossed to Canada for part of my one-day rental. The location is relatively convenient to area highways.
